Student Profile

Michael D. Justiss journeyed south to the birthplace of his forefathers, Gator Country. Both his parents, grandparents, uncle… all attended the University of Florida. He began the Rehabilitation Science Doctoral Program in January of 2002. Prior to the overdue return to his roots, he specialized in Hand and Upper Extremity Rehabilitation at an orthopedic practice in the Pittsburgh area. Before that he worked as an Occupational Therapy generalist in a diverse clinical environment, which included both adult and pediatric client populations. At UF, Michael worked with Dr. William Mann on projects supporting his research in the Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center on Technology for Successful Aging.  Michael's dissertation is conducted on older driver issues, and occurs in the context of Mann's National Older Driver Rehabilitation and Training Center.
