Natalie’s interest in
geropsychology first developed while working with an inpatient
psychogeriatric population during her undergraduate degree at the
University of Alberta. During this experience she studied the
implementation of Goal Attainment Scaling within a geriatric population
to assist in the attainment of treatment goals.
Following the completion of her undergraduate degree, Natalie worked as
a research coordinator on a two-year study funded by Alzheimer Canada.
The goals of the study involved the development and evaluation of
psychoeducational interventions for individuals with a dementia who
have had to stop driving and for their caregivers. This research
opportunity allowed Natalie to focus on two of her primary research
interests: psychosocial interventions for older adults and empowerment.
During her academic and research experiences Natalie has co-authored
publications and co-presented at regional and national conferences.
Currently she is enrolled in the first year of the Counseling
Psychology Ph.D. program with Dr. Christina McCrae as her primary
mentor.
